Commissioned for Lancaster Jazz Festival 2016 and selected by Lancaster Jazz Festival Members.
Up and coming jazz guitarist, and winner of the 2016 Dankworth prize for jazz composition, Billy Marrows will be working with his Royal Academy of Music based contemporary jazz octet, exploring ideas from Gamelan music. Using elements that are inherent to Gamelan music he combines them with the grooves, harmony and improvisation of contemporary jazz.
