Hello all you Jazz Festival followers!
Having just finished my GCSEs I have been left with a sizeable void in my “stuff-to-do calendar”; a void which can only be filled by critiquing and interviewing various jazz musicians and bands! So I have been assigned the catchy title of “youth blogger” and my aim will be to attend and review as many Lancaster Jazz festival acts as my bus fares will stretch to and post my results right here on this marvellous website.
I’ll be getting up close and personal to the musicians, delving as far into their jazzy lives as possible without receiving a restraining order, hopefully finding out about their influences and their aims in music. On top of this I will be writing on their performances as a critic.
There will be many random blog entries on various things surrounding the festival and the people playing and organising it … the content of which I have absolutely no idea … but rest assured that they will be packed full of awesome things so keep checking the website for these tasty snippets.
However, there is sadly some bad news! I am a gigging musician myself and it just so happens that on Friday 5th of July (Programme Launch … The Hall, China Street… Doors open 7:30) I have a gig to play elsewhere so unfortunately I will not be able to attend. But fear not there will be plenty of tasty reviews to come…
