Well the programme’s out, the sun is shining, the festival team is in place, everything’s confirmed - we’re on the home straight and it’s the time of year I’m actively encouraged to tell everyone how exciting the festival is going to be (and that’s because it is hugely exciting).
Neil Cowley especially. Their first album, Displaced, was by chance one of the first albums I got when I was getting into jazz (the first being the live Love Supreme) and it blew me away it’s a real honor now to have them in Lancaster (and in the beautiful Round Theatre at The Dukes). Tickets are available now and I’d strongly recommend booking in advance (you get to choose where you sit and you could be mere centimeters away if you wanted).
It’s Manchester Jazz Festival this week! Everyone know’s that though surely? A truly fantastic festival with some amazing artists all put together by a great team. Go and support it! For me highlights this year include Snarky Puppy at Band on the Wall, Billy Moon/Moss Project and Shanter’s Bassoon next friday but you could go along to anything and easily be blown away, the programme this year I think is particularly brilliant.
See you there (and in September obviously)
