Wow! What a start to the weekend. Beats & Pieces were truly amazing last night.
It was a massively ambitious gig for us at Lancaster Jazz Festival as we had to set up for the big band in a space that although is a great space, doesn’t have the tech to accommodate such a band. A huge thank you goes to More Music and the Dalton Rooms for making it all happen and to the festival team that put in a 14 hour day of moving subs around.
The Thinking with Jazz Symposium went brilliantly as well, and I even survived a panel session without lowering the tone of the entire day too much.
To today then:
We’re at The Borough from 11 with our Goat Music Workshop. Come and play with the Runshaw Mini Big Band - all ages, abilities and instruments welcome - it’s an easy way into jazz improvisation with some of the rising stars of the north west jazz scene.
We’re then running all afternoon with the Eskdale Quintet, Jon Moore and his brand new album, the fab Zoë Gilby and the John Woodhouse. Going to be a great day.
Oh yeah and then there’s the gig that we’ve been looking forward to since November - some guy called Neil Cowley in The Round. Tickets are now completely sold out. It’s going to be something really special.
We’ll be then playing into the early hours post Neil Cowley at the Golden Lion with our annual Jam Session. Everyones welcome to come and play with (or without) the house band, or just come a have a few beers with us.
See you in a bit
