SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER
15.00 - 16.00
A chord-less quartet who formed to explore the possibilities and challenges afforded by the absence of a harmony instrument. This includes different approaches to improvisation, delving in particular into melodic and rhythmic ideas from Middle Eastern improvisation, with the chord-less set-up of the group being ideal for experimentation into certain scale theories. Sonny Rollins mixed with John Zorn perhaps.
GRAHAM SOUTH / trumpet, MARK HANSLIP / tenor sax, SETH BENNETT / double bass, JOHNNY HUNTER / drums
