J Frisco and Archipelago are two of the most exciting bands to emerge from the colourful Northern creative scene. They have both won over many fans, J Frisco with their patient and artful ambient improvisations and Archipelago with their garage-jazz song structures. Now, at Lancaster Jazz Festival, these two bands will come together as a hybrid super band! In a specially commissioned performance this new double-headed ensemble will debut new pieces conceptualised by Faye MacCalman (Archipelago, reeds and compositions), inspired by the constant cycle of light and dark and how they can transform days and spaces with their subtle, imperceptible shifts. Expect improvisation, lyricism and big riffs.
