Olivia Cuttill Quintet
We’re delighted to announce a very special show to celebrate the launch of the 2025 Lancaster Jazz Festival programme. Come along and grab your copy, and enjoy a wonderful evening with Olivia Cuttill and her quintet. Olivia has previously played the festival in a variety of bands but this is her first show here with her own quintet. The band offers a showcase for Olivia’s excellent writing and well-observed lyrics alongside her monster trumpet playing while also providing a vehicle for all the musicians to shine.
Olivia Cuttill, Leeds Conservatoire graduate, Peter Whitingham 2024 awards winner, London based jazz trumpet player and composer and her all star band come to you with her brand new album ‘…And Writing And Singing And Tunes To Be Swingin’. As the third generation to pursue music in her family (all of which feature on the album) , jazz and blues are deeply rooted in Olivia’s heritage. Heavily influenced by the sounds of New Orleans, inspired by Louis Armstrong and Dr John and the song writing of Nina Simone and Randy Newman, her sound is rich with soul. Olivia’s approach to composition story telling and improvisation seamlessly bleed into one, gleaming with conviction, character and captivation.
“Olivia Cuttill really is the “full package”…. Remember the name.”
