Home/Lands

The Storey Auditorium Duration: 1 hour Get Tickets

Home/Lands is an exploration of the concept of ‘home’ and the sense of belonging. Together, the band celebrate their relationships with the objects, music, people and places they hold most dear. Over the 2020 lockdown period, Brodie and Alicia would send each other musical ideas and sketches in the post
to work with and build upon. In 2022 they were awarded the B:Music Jazzlines Commission to create a brand new suite of music, and Home/Lands was born.

The group plays with the sonic possibilities of baritone saxophone and double bass, experimenting with fresh ideas of melody/bassline responsibilities. With strong influences from the worlds of jazz and folk music, Home/Lands features improvisations, musical games and intricately crafted melodies.

Alicia Gardener-Trejo: Baritone saxophone, flute
Andrew Woodhead: Piano
Brodie Jarvie: Double bass
Jonathan Silk: Drums
