Ilke-Ta

Lancaster Priory Duration: 75 minutes Get Tickets

Evolve Commission Premiere

Drummer and producer Ilke-Ta (Jamie Sykes) has an intricate, glitch-heavy approach to jazz music, taking influence from hip hop sampling and electronica in order to weave complex and rhythmically unique tracks. Seated behind a drum kit and with a variety of triggers and musical companions, Ilke-Ta creates a unique and intense performance experience.

For this Evolve Commission premiere audio-responsive visual artist Johnny McJohnston will be joining the Ilke-Ta quartet to provide projection mapped visuals across Lancaster Priory. These will respond to dynamic changes, frequencies and tempo to create an immersive one-of-a-kind performance.

Ilke-Ta will be performing a wide variety of original compositions alongside some unusual takes on hip-hop, ambient electronica and jazz classics.

Massive thanks to the members of the Lancaster Joint Schools Orchestra who allowed themselves to be sampled to provide the raw sounds for the commissioned composition.
