John Pope Quintet

Lancaster Library Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Tickets on the door only

As our Artist in Residence, John has been mentoring local young band 40,40A over several visits to Lancaster this year. We are over the moon to present this fantastic double bill of established and emerging jazz brilliance.

The John Pope Quintet is above all else a band committed to finding and sharing moments of musical brilliance in the moment. They are a dynamic acoustic ensemble making music on the verge of creative order and disorder, combining hard-grooving swing with avant-garde spontaneity, melody-driven composition and open-hearted improvisation.

The Quintet are energetic, off-kilter, celebratory and full of rewards for the adventurous listener and will be premiering material from their new album, which will be out in the autumn.

John Pope: Double bass
Jamie Stockbridge: Alto & baritone saxophone
Faye MacCalman: Tenor saxophone, clarinet
Graham Hardy: Trumpets
Johnny Hunter: Drums, percussion

Please note, this ticket is for a double bill with the John Pope Quintet and 40,40A.
