Persimmon blends together an electric mix of jazz, neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, spoken word, and dance/electronica – rooted in the band’s early foundations in contemporary jazz. Their music blends creative improvisation and groove-driven rhythms with lyrics that speak to grief, longing, anti-capitalist rage, and utopian dreaming.
They simply enjoy playing together, developing ideas, and having fun on stage, and are motivated by a collective desire to share their fresh music with new audiences while striving to push jazz in new and exciting directions.
Taking inspiration from the current UK jazz scene, they make music that’s fresh, vibrant and accessible, while speaking directly to audiences.
