James Mainwairing saxophone & electronics
Roller Trio and Tipping Point saxophonist James Mainwaring brings his solo set exploring the acoustic and processed saxophone and the saxophone as a midi controller in Ableton Live. Performing at London Jazz Festival which was described in Jazzmann as “an intense, uncompromising performance that was utterly compelling”, at Leeds Jazz Festival and many more, each improvised set uses different instruments and samples (sometimes locally sourced on the day) making every performance unique. The samples and instruments are triggered by pitch or at different volumes. Some examples of samples used so far have been rain, reversed cymbals, wind chimes and cat purrs. This is saxophone led, jazz inspired experimental music with electronic soundscapes, free grooves and angular melodies.
A free workshop, open to all instrumentalists, will take place at The Printroom between 10.30am-12pm. Email email@example.com to reserve your place
