Laura Cole: Persuance

7.9.23

Lancaster Jazz Festival 2023 is well underway after a brilliant performace from Laura Cole, Lara Jones, Charlotte Keeffe, Faye MacCalman and Walt Shaw, with amazing projections from andrew martyn sugars.

Some feedback from our audience:

“A very stretching experience but that’s positive. Sometimes felt at the outer edge but that’s no bad thing. Full marks to the Festival for giving people the chance to listen & see this jazz.”

“I loved the artists, they had such great energy. The sound in the room was good, the lightning was really atmospheric. I enjoyed the show, as well as the conversation with the organisers and the artists post-show.”

“Challenging, interesting music. Everything a Jazz Festival should be.”

Huge thanks to the artists and also to our lovely audience!

You can catch Laura Cole with the Johnny Hunter Quartet and Charlotte Keeffe with Nishla Smith on Saturday at the Storey. There’s another chance to catch Faye MacCalman too, on Sunday at Lancaster Library in the John Pope Quintet. If you were at Emma Johnson’s show in this space last year, you’ll know what a magical space this venue is.

Here are some photos from the night, thanks to our excellent photographer Ginny Koppenhol.
