Friday night at Kanteena

9.9.23

Another great day at the Lancaster Jazz Festival!

Go Kojak started the night with an excellent and very funky show to an appreciative crowd.

“Go Kojak” – a stunning session from a quite-recently established North Lancs combo. Wow! This was something else, very-much funk-based jazz, the sort of sound we’re used to at this so-modern, ahead-of-the-game festival. Unpredictable and totally inspiring!

Go Kojak were amazing! Wonderful to see such a varied and energetic programme.

Romarna Campbell Trio became a duo, as sadly Mutale Chashi suffered an injury and wasn’t able to play. Feel better Mutale! However Romarna and Cenk Esen put on a great show and totally captivated our audience. Two piano/drums combos in two days!

“Romarna Campbell duo” – you so-much look forward to something that’s going to catch you out! This WAS it! Modern, syncopated themes, with Afro-beat vibes and…… so-much more! The crowd was on its feet, at the end, begging for MORE!

Spectacular gig, absolutely wonderful & so so engaging

Big thanks DJs Sie Norfolk and Shaun Foran for keeping the vibe going inbetween sets.

As always – huge thanks to the artists, our excellent voluteers, and you, our lovely audience!
