Thanks to everyone who appliied to play at this year’s festival – we’re delighted to get so many submissions and can’t wait to listen to them all!.

We are excited to launch this years’ Open Call for all artists interested in playing at the 2024 Lancaster Jazz Festival.

We program the majority of the festival through this call out and love working in this way and it’s especially exciting when projects that aren’t on our radar apply and blow us away!

At Lancaster Jazz Festival we believe that the future of jazz is now and we take pride in promoting brilliant musicians from the broad church of contemporary jazz. We strive to promote a diverse programme from around the UK that includes new works, genre pushing acts, emerging artists and projects, and cross art form collaborations.

We program work in a variety of venues. We know these well and match our artists to them to create spaces for artists to produce their best work.

We also provide accommodation for all artists playing the festival – so you can hang out, meet up with other artists and catch their shows too. We think the opportunity to do this is really important.

We will also be hosting our second Inspire Artist Conference Day during the festival. We curate this in consultation with artists to provide a stimulating and useful day for those who attend.

The Lancaster Jazz Festival open programme is open to all artists without restriction.

We have a commitment to equity and inclusion which includes offering a platform for under represented groups in our industry. We would like to represent more black, asian and global majority artists within our programme, and we encourage applications from these backgrounds.
